Hello,
I hope all is well with you. As a user of Moksha, I know you’ve experienced what a useful system it is. Moksha was created in 2009 as a custom submissions system for Lightspeed magazine editor John Joseph Adams. Moksha quickly grew to be used by many magazines and publications. Today, Moksha is in use by more than sixty organizations and hundreds of publications from all over the world. Moksha is also free for anyone to submit, anywhere in the world with an internet connection, and will always be free. We never charge submission fees and never will.This is part of our commitment to being as accessible as possible to as many people as possible.
Since its inception, Moksha has not ever raised the price. Moksha’s subscription costs are also significantly below the cost of our main competitor. And as much as I wish we could keep Moksha at the same low price forever, the reality is that in the 11 years since Moksha began, the costs to maintain it have gone up significantly. Hosting, file storage, data transfer, software updates and other maintenance have all increased steadily over the years to the point that in order to remain viable we have to raise our subscription prices. Therefore, on January 1, 2021, the price of a Moksha subscription will be going up. But this price increase will only affect new subscribers, for now.
If you are subscribed to Moksha as of January 1, 2021, your price won’t change for a year. If you are subscribed as of the new year, your subscription price won’t increase until January 1, 2022, a year from now.
To summarize:
- Moksha rates will be increasing for new subscribers on January 1, 2021
- Current Moksha subscribers (subscribed as of January 1, 2021) will not pay the new subscription rate for a full year, until January 1, 2022
The new subscription rates are as follows:
- Monthly subscription – $65 per month
- Bi-Annual subscription – $350 per 6 months
- Annual subscription – $650 per year

We are constantly working both in front of and behind the scenes to improve Moksha, to make sure it’s the most useful and accessible submissions system out there. This rate increase will allow us to continue making Moksha the best it can possibly be.
