Submission Word Count

When you submit to Moksha, you are asked for your word count, which is the length of your submission. Check the guidelines, but publishers usually request you round to the nearest 100 words. So for example if your submisison is 5124 words, you would enter 5100. If your submission is 6280 words, you’d enter 6300.

Also, make sure that your word count is an integer. But do not add periods or commas:

5,100 (incorrect)
5100 (correct)
6.200 (incorrect)
6200 (correct)

A publisher may set a maximum length of submissions, so you may see a warning if your submission is longer than this length.

Inadequate Security Error

If you receive the error that “Your connection is not secure” when you visit a Moksha website, or that the site has “inadequate security”, make sure that you are using the latest version of your web browser. Some older versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and IE, and less used browsers like Waterfox may experience this error. Upgrading to the latest version will fix this error.

Moksha Emails, Whitelists, Spam, and Kindle Devices

All email communication in the Moksha system comes from the email address notify@moksha.io.

For authors

Make sure to whitelist (i.e. tell your spam filter to ignore) the email address: notify@moksha.io.

For editors

Make sure to whitelist (i.e. tell your spam filter to ignore) the email address: notify@moksha.io.

In your user profile, there is a setting called “Forwarding Behavior” in the “Email Forwarding” tab. Within that option is the text field for “Forwarding email.” If this field is not empty, submission attachments will be sent to this address instead of your primary login email. This is useful, for example, if you want to send submissions automatically to your Kindle device or other e-reader. So you could, for example, put [name]@kindle.com in this field.

The second option, “For ward submissions via email (even if user has already received)” tells Moksha whether or not to send you the submission only once, or always. This is useful, for example, if you don’t want to receive the submission via email every time a reader recommends or forwards the submission to you.

Reset a Lost Password

It happens to the best of us! You forgot your password to the Moksha system. Don’t worry, it’s easy to recover.

First, go to your site’s main page. Your site URL will be of the form:

https://yoursitename.moksha.io

Once there, scroll down to the very bottom until you see this:

Click on the “Login” link. That will take you to your site’s login page, where you will see this:

Click on “Forgot your password.”

Finally, enter your email address and click “Send Password Reset Link.”

You will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password. Note that all system emails come from notify@moksha.io, so make sure your spam filter is not blocking that address. If you don’t receive the email, check your spam folder.
